3 reasons why tradies should be on social media
Gone are the days when people flick through a hard copy of the Yellow Pages (do they still exist?) to find a local service. Now, a quick Google search is all a customer needs to find the service they’re after.
Social media has become a powerful tool for businesses (almost as powerful as your trusty hammer). No matter how big or small your trade may be, investing a bit of time into creating a social media profile for your business will ensure that you’re reaching out to potential customers. These are customers that are actually actively looking for your service.
Here are 3 reasons why you should set up your trade on social media.
1. It’s cheaper… and you determine the price!
You can spend as little or as much as you want on your social media profile. In fact, you can get by without spending anything at all. Being on social media is about building and maintaining your business presence online.
However, if you do want to up your marketing game, some social media platforms have advertising options for as little as $2 a day. The great thing is that you’re in control of how long you want to advertise for and how much you want to spend. You no longer have to spend hundreds of dollars paying for an ad spot in the local paper or printing off flyers.
2. Interact with your customers to increase sales
Sharing a before and after shot of a job well done is a great way to interact with customers. Customers like to see proof before they hand the cash over. Uploading pictures of your jobs on social media may just be the sprinkle on top of closing current and future sales.
You can also share relevant industry news and funny pictures to give your business a personality. By posting valuable content regularly, customers will become more engaged. This’ll help you build your network of customers, which leads me to the next point…
3. Reach new customers
Ever get posts from random Facebook pages on your news feed? Chances are that one of your friends have liked that post, which means it’s ended up on your feed. Don’t underestimate the power of a single mouse click or finger tap. The more your current customers leave reviews, share your posts and interact with your business online, the more your business presence will spread and reach new customers.
Tip: If you go down the paid advertising route, you can narrow down the exact type of customer you want to target by interest groups, age, location and more.
So, are you convinced that social media is the next step for your business? If so, then it’s time to determine what social media platform is right for you. Stay tuned for our next blog post on how to choose and maximise social media for your business.
